The Font Is Filled

Warm Greetings from a very frigid Germany.
Whee!

Highlights from this week:
*It snowed!!!
*Ralf got BAPTIZED!!!!
*We laughed a potential into changing his mind and choosing to meet with us.

So, we were contacting on the way to an appointment, and Sister Terry stops this tall blond guy with a scar on his face, nursing his little cup of coffee. She asks him about God, and he shuts her down, declaring that he only believes in what he can see...
His cup of coffee, for example.
I overhear this conversation, just as he starts to cross the street. I ask Sister Johnson for a German Book of Mormon, because naturally, I only have English on me?
Anyway, I dart across the street.

"Excuse me"
I call out, in my most brilliant and beautiful missionary voice
"You said that you only believe what you see, right?"
He nods, looking back at me, partially annoyed, partially confused.
"Well,"
I wave the Book of Mormon in front of his face
"Can you see THIS?
This is your evidence."
He was not impressed, and mumbled something about seeing his coffee cup.
Then I was not impressed.

Then a couple days later, we were contacting a guy that turned about to be a member (happens quite often) who points out a friend of his. We turn to look at this guy, and watch him as he's talking to someone else, and I decide that he HAS to be talked to. Finally I get the chance when we get out at the same Bahn stop. I start talking to him and we find out he is an American from Boston.
Next thing we know, he's told his German nickname: Chocolate Angel
He is probably one of the funniest people I have ever met, but there was something he said that hit me really hard.
We asked him if he has heard of the Mormons before, and he looked at me like I was crazy.
"I'm from America, of COURSE I have heard of Mormons."
So he said he's on a hunt to find a church, but he didn't really know what the Mormons believe.
We were like
"What?"
And this is what he said:
"Yeah, you Mormons don't brag about what you believe the way other people do."

That made me super sad.
Cleaning the Font
We have SO MUCH to brag about. What are we afraid of? I think that one of the biggest reasons why we don't talk to our friends or co-workers is because we're worried that people will be annoyed, but then we run the risk of them knowing nothing about us, and assuming that we are weird and strange. But here is this guy, searching for truth, who didn't know where to find it because his friends were too careful.

Contrast that with Ralf, who when fighting the temptation to smoke the day before his baptism told us that he had won. He said this: Satan can say what he wants, it's too late. The font is already filled.

Is your font filled, or are you still waiting to be convinced by circumstance?

Anyway, that is all that I have time for.

Love always!

Sister Roderer
